Peter Stride

Peter Stride is a self taught sculptor living in Torbay. His work ranges from conventional pottery, figurative and abstract sculptures to ceramic and mixed media. He makes individual pieces from a few inches tall to life size, working from life models. His works are in several personal collections worldwide.

Peter’s ceramics are mainly made using the Japanese pottery technique called Raku and wood fired techniques, fired in his homemade kilns. Peter finds that Raku and wood firing techniques offer the opportunity to achieve interesting surface textures and effects.

He is a member of the West Country Potters Association and has exhibited, demonstrated and
taught at various venues in the South West and South East. He was the founder of the Ceramic
Festival hosted at Cockington Court in May 2013. Peter was also the model and technical assistant for Elisabeth Hadley's "Man & Boy" bronze sculpture on King’s Quay in Brixham.
