Nicholas Bellamy

Nicholas Bellamy was born in coastal South Devon, then moved to industrial Manchester as a young child. His adult life involved working as a graphic designer in the design and photographic industry.

In 2009 Nicholas returned to his birthplace where the structure of his life was readdressed. It was there that a new passion was found which evolved into a new creative practice of working with clay.

Nicholas views clay as a material and a personal journey. He finds clay allows him to explore where the conscious and subconscious of our emotions connect and entwine. He creates 3D forms that abstractly investigate the malleable question of what occupies the most important spaces within our mind, the positive or the negative? Or, do they both have a crucial part to play? His ceramic sculptures are a personal and artistic interpretation into the hidden world of human emotions.
