Cockington Christmas Fayre launches Cockington Court festive season

Categories: Latest News

Cockington Court’s festive all-weather skating rink hosted 300 skaters on its opening last weekend and continues to be open through to Sunday 4 January for both public sessions and private group bookings.

At the weekend the biggest and best Christmas Fayre also took place with over 3,000 people enjoying the craft studios, skating rink, lantern parade, carol singing and festive food, drink and craft stalls. Father Christmas also had visits from more than 200 children.

He is in his Winter wonderland Grotto every weekend until Christmas from 10am to 12.30pm, 1pm to 2.15pm and 2.30pm to 4pm with visits costing just £2 per child. The Winter Wonderland Grotto is still open during the week for children to post their letters to the North Pole. Father Christmas will also be taking to the skate rink on Thursday 18th December for a special ‘Skate with Santa’ session.

Also at Cockington Court in the run up to Christmas, there are festive food treats at the Tea Rooms and Chocolate Shop, plus a wealth of Christmas Crafts and unique gifts for sale direct from the tenants in the 20 craft studios.

Torbay Mayor Gordon Oliver, said: “Well done to Cockington Court for organising such an excellent Christmas Fayre, in addition to securing the skating rink for a second year running. This festive winter wonderland is a lovely place to visit in the lead up to Christmas. It’s a first rate place to get unique and stylish Christmas gifts and the skating rink and grotto make it a good day out for the whole family.”

Cockington Court Centre Director, Marissa Wakefield, said: “The Christmas Fayre this weekend proved popular as ever. It shows that Cockington Court is growing from strength to strength and is a popular day out any time of the year. We are also pleased to offer the skating rink for a second year and feel that the addition of the all-weather canopy is a positive one ensuring any inclement weather will not stop the festive fun.

“There’s plenty to do and see in addition to the skate rink in the run up to Christmas at Cockington Court; The Seachange and Stableyard Crafts Studios have unique, handmade gifts for Christmas shoppers; the Tea Rooms and chocolatiers offer delicious festive treats to tempt your taste buds after a winter-wonderland walk in the Country Park and Father Christmas is in his Grotto in the Kitchen Gallery."
The all-weather synthetic ice skating rink has been provided by LAMBCO Skating and has been kindly sponsored by a number of local businesses including Gold Sponsors Herald Express, Silver Sponsors Keith’s Diner and SJG Energy Solutions and Bronze Sponsors Kitsons Solicitors, Individual Training Solutions, Cavanna Homes and the Horizon Centre.
