What's On

Cockington Court presents a vibrant and varied annual events programme. There’s something for everyone to enjoy; with arts and crafts festivals, outdoor theatre performances, classic car shows, summer fairs, fashion shows as well as Easter, Halloween and Christmas Celebrations.

We also offer an inspiring arts and crafts workshop programme for adults and families in our resource centre.   

What's on in 2014

14 March - POETSfriday celebrates Cockington’s Green Heart
The Cockington Green Heart appeal aims to keep Cockington’s green heart beating.
For POETSfriday please bring a token of spring which, with the inspiration of Cockington we shall plan a short writing session. Also we invite you to bring any poetry about conservation, preservation, eco measures, green matters or Cockington to read during our open mike session.
Poets and all poetry lovers welcome £3.50 to include tea, coffee and a bun! 2.00pm  - 4.00pm

20 -21 April - Easter Activities

Easter Bunny Hunt. Free family arts & crafts. Easter Card & Bonnet Making. Just drop in between 11 – 4pm and get creative!  Easter Bonnet Parade at 2.30pm on Monday 21st at Cockington Chocolate Company with a special chocolate prize for the best bonnet.No booking needed this is a drop in have a go workshop.  'Rokey the Clown' will also be joining us on Easter Monday (21st April) from 11.00am – 4.00pm. Rokey wants to invite people to be part of a special ‘Balloon Installation’ using modelling balloons. Anyone can make something themselves (help provided if needed) then hang it on the tree in the ‘Sea Change’ craft studios area. Just come on down and get creative!

31 May -1 June - Miss Ivys Revival
Miss Ivy's Revival will be with us in the Manor Rooms, hosting a two day festival style celebration of all things vintage, with stalls, a Brocante Market, entertainment, refreshments, workshops and more, so it promises to be a wonderful weekend of uniqueness in beautiful and magical surroundings.

31 May -1 June - Happily Ever After' Cockington Court Wedding Display
We are delighted to announce our first ever wedding display – 'Happily Ever After'. Taking place on the same weekend as Miss Ivy's Revival, we will hold the fair in our delightful ceremony rooms, in the Grade II listed Manor House. These two delightful rooms will host a selection of exclusive and artisan handpicked local wedding suppliers - bespoke dress makers, jewellers, transport, stationers, cake makers, florists, photographers, hair & make-up and accessories to showcase themselves to prospective brides & grooms.

13 June - POETSfriday enjoys Midsummer Madness
Is it the English countryside or seaside, and long sultry summer days that inspire you? Do you write poems or love reading Shakespeare? Join us for an afternoon of poetry revelling in all things joyous about summer. Open mike – bring any poems of summer madness that you’d like to share.

29 June - Classic Motorcycles at Cockington Court
The VMCC (The Vintage Motorcycle Club) will be displaying an array of vintage and classic motorcycles on the front lawn and in the Sea Change Craft Studios area at Cockington Court on Sunday 29th June 2014 from 10.30am to 4.00pm.

3 August –Illyria Outdoor Theatre –Georges Marvellous Medicine
Following the success of The Twits last summer, Illyria returns with yet another Roald Dahl classic - George's Marvellous Medicine. Staged on the front lawn at Cockington Court, the performance will be full of (literally) larger-than-life characters, plenty to join in with, and just a twist of malicious fun! It's guaranteed to send you through the roof!

6 August - Cockington Fayre
A traditional Old English Village fair in the beautiful and historical village of Cockington.
'A Great Family Day Out' in the grounds of the historical Cockington Court.

22 August - Illyria Outdoor Theatre - Robin Hood
This outdoor theatre performance will take place on the front lawn at Cockington Court. First performed in 2007, this remains one of Illyria's most popular ever titles. You'll definitely laugh, you'll probably cry - and if you're not cheering at the archery competition involving the entire audience then you must be dead.

26 September  - POETSfriday 'Our all time favourite poem'
POETSfriday is grateful to Acumen for sponsoring our autumn event, and inviting guest poets to read from their collection. Do you have a favourite poem? Is it one you have written or one remembered from school days? We invite you to bring it to read during our open mike.

19th October - Apple Day
Back by popular demand, we are delighted to welcome back Cockington's October Food and Crafts Festival, showcasing the best in local foods, handmade crafts, apples, juices and ciders!  Entertainment and family fun too..

27-31 October - Cockington Court Halloween Festival
We are hosting a festival of FREE Halloween inspired arts and crafts and activities for the whole family to enjoy.  A full programme of events to follow.

6 & 7 December - Christmas at Cockington Court Craft & Food Fayre
Santa’s Grotto, Craft and Food Stalls, Choirs, Lantern Parade, Mince Pies & Mulled Wine, Face Painting, Christmas Quiz.

Get your skates on this Winter and come and join us on the LAMBCO Christmas Skating Rink in front of a festive Cockington Court Manor House.  This year we will have a roof over the rink offering all weather skating.  Open daily from 10.30am to 5pm from December 6th to January 4th.

12 December - POETSfriday 'Food for thought'
POETSfriday is celebrating Christmas and thinking about puddings and pies, turkey with stuffing, brandy butter or sprouts …. Have you made or bought your presents and written your cards? Please write a poem on the theme "Food for thought" & bring to read.
